ANALISIS FAKTOR YANG BERHUBUNGAN DENGAN KESADARAN KESELAMATAN DAN KESEHATAN KERJA (K3) PADA SISWA KELAS XII JURUSAN OTOMOTIF SEKOLAH MENENGAH KEJURUAN (SMK) NEGERI 3 GORONTALO
Abstract
Awareness of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) behavior must be instilled from an early age. Vocational high schools (SMK) serve as one of the key institutions for introducing and fostering OHS awareness among students. Therefore, it is essential to provide proper education and implementation of OHS practices within the school environment. Several factors influence students' awareness of OHS at school, including knowledge, supervision (by teachers and the school), the availability of OHS facilities such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and access to OHS-related information. Students' awareness of OHS should be reflected in their attitudes and actions during practical activities, in order to prevent accidents, even those originating from basic sources or materials. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with OHS awareness among automotive students. The study employed a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all 46 Grade XII automotive students at SMK Negeri 3 Gorontalo, with a total sampling used for participant selection. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test.
The results showed that the variables significantly associated with OHS awareness were OHS knowledge (p=0.015), supervision (p=0.007), use of PPE (p=0.037), and sources of information (p=0.010). It can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between OHS knowledge, supervision, PPE usage, and information sources with students' OHS awareness. It is recommended that students continue to enhance and implement their OHS knowledge, while schools should improve learning media, add references or textbooks related to OHS, and monitor student attitudes and actions during practical learning sessions.
